Setting up Family and Legal Status Monitoring
Legal status and family monitoring is an individual offer of SIP Software for Intellectual Property GmbH. This service can be used without one of the Invention Navigator Editions directly via our website www.patentfamily.de.
Monitoring is performed via these 3 Steps:
- Create your monitoring filter from pre-defined filters (lapsed, granted, opposition, applicant, etc.) or use the INPADOC- legal status codes (PRS) to define your filters individually. Decide for yourself which countries you would like to monitor.
- Set up a new monitoring by entering a patent number (without kind code) of a representative of the patent family you would like to monitor the website “Add new patent observation(s)”. You can assign a new name for the observation (e.g. a file number or the title of the patent) and decide if you would like to be informed via e-mail once a change has taken place.
- As soon as a change has taken place you will receive an email with various links and the information, which of your observed patents has been subject to change. Click on the link and after entering your Login data, you will be transferred to a website where the current Legal Status is displayed.
In the Invention Navigator Knowledge Network
Users of an Invention Navigator Knowledge Network have the option to assign patent families to be monitored to “Active Folders”. These families will be automatically monitored, corresponding to their assigned filters and the responsible persons will be notified via e-mail once a change has taken place. Click on the link in the e-mail and after entering your Login data, the current changes in family and legal status will be displayed.
Various filtering and search options are available to you which support you with the administration of your lists. At any time, you can delete patent families from the observation, change your filters and set up new observations. The observations take place on a weekly basis. Our observations are based on the legal status data of the INPADOC database and changes in the members of the SIP-Patent family.
Costs and Billing
The costs for the observation of a patent family depends on the duration of the observation. We will check the amount of patent families in your observations on a weekly basis prior to the automated Legal Status search. The cost is calculated at a rate of 0,20€ per week and per patent family. You will receive an invoice either on a quarterly basis or once your observations have accumulated an amount of 200 €. This pricing model provides you with full cost control. You will only be charged for observations that actually take place and you remain extremely flexible with your portfolio.
