F-Terms

The F-Terms are a special classification from the Japanese Patent Office. Searches in the F-Terms enable you a very detailed search in different aspects of the invention. Additional information regarding this classification can be found on the pages of the Japanese Patent Office.

Patents of a defined technical area are classified under multiple aspects. (multi aspect-classification). Only Japanese patents are classified in the F-Terms.

The classes can’t be found via a selection tree. They have to be manually entered and must be separated with a semicolon.

In order to find a class and all of its sub-classes, enter the class using the Asterisk as a truncation. Example: 3C034*

In order to find one specific F-Term, enter the class using a slash (/). Enter the class and the “viewpoint” separated by a slash.

3C034 AA08 --> 3C034/AA08
